Tunisia: Mesmeric Sports City under Construction




The Tunis Sports City is an entire sports city currently being constructed in Tunis, Tunisia. The city that will consist of apartment buildings as well as several sports facilities will be built by the Bukhatir Group at a cost of $5 Billion (5.86 Billion Dinars).

Construction began in 2008 after being approved by the Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

The site is located in the Lac de Tunis area in the northern suburbs of the city. The entire site is currently an uninhabited green space.

The Lac de Tunis area is the major focus for new development and building activity in Tunis, and the area has seen as increasing number of multi-national companies setting up offices in the area.

The site is bordered by two roads, the main Rue de Lac on one side and the motorway connecting Tunis with the suburbs on the other.

Tunis sports city like its sibling development in Dubai is a concept that should prove popular with local and foreign investors alike.

The development promises a themed community based on providing a green healthy and sports filled lifestyle which has proved popular in the Dubai project.

Construction is ongoing, with the first customers moving in by the middle of 2011, also the sale office is now so anytime now they will start to release properties on the Ceder part of the development

The Cedar development will have 11 High-rise Apartment Buildings, approximately 50 Standard Villas and Grand Villas, as well as 13 blocks of Low-rise Townhouses/Apartments which will be called the village.

The Cedar community consists of classic and contemporary style residences. As there is a range of tower apartments with mesmeric views of the golf course and idyllic waterways; unique villas; or even enchanting residences, all designed to meet the highest architectural and aesthetic specifications.

Cedar residences will overlook the 18-hole PGA-approved golf course and sports academies, and will be complemented by a comprehensive array of community facilities including playgrounds, parks and schools.

The Jardins de Tunis Golf Course, 18 holes over an area of around 81 hectares, is surrounded by villas and modern comfort residences. Designed by British Peter Harradine, the world leader in luxury golf course management, the Professional Golfers’ Association golf course is one that is both beautiful and exciting.

Apart from golfing, the club house at Cedar also offers facilities such as tennis courts, a billiards room, an exclusive gymnasium and swimming pool, an international spa with indoor and outdoor spaces for the treatment rooms, a lounge bar with specialty restaurants, meeting and conferences room, a golf academy, a pro-shop, landscaped lawns and much more.

The Tunis Sports City, which will cover an area of 257 hectares, will encompass several spaces of entertainment activities through academies in various sport disciplines like tennis, golf and swimming.

The project also includes sports academies, a 20,000 capacity football stadium, a swimming centre with an Olympic swimming pool, a thalasso therapy centre, in addition to an indoors sports services centre.
