Tunis, July 9, 2009- The Emirati Group, Bukhatir has launched a vast promotional campaign for the selling of the first phase of “Tunis Sports City”. The first phase of the project dubbed “Cedar”, will cover an area of 13 hectares and will include residential units with specific architectural norms combining modernism and functionality. It will also comprise high rise towers as well as villas, banks and shopping malls.
The initial part of the project will cost 642 million dinars and will be built over a three year period. It is expected to generate some 6000 employments, said Mr Lotfi Al Zaar the executive director of “Tunis Sports City”, during a press conference held in Tunis.
The rest of the of the project-one of Tunisia’s mega- projects- will cover an area of 256 hectares and will be completed by 2015. The overall cost of the project is 5 billion dollars.
The project will also include an international sports academy, a football stadium, and an Olympic swimming pool. Partnership agreements with the French league one football club “l’Olympique de Marseilles” (OM), and the Professional Golf Association (PGA),are expected to be signed with a view to managing these facilities.
