Tunisia: The first selling phase of a new sports city to be constructed in Tunisia by the UAE-based Bukhatir Group will be held on Friday, said Lutfi Al Zaar, the executive director of Tunisia Sports City project – better known as Cedar.
To be constructed on an area of 13 hectres, the project’s initial part will be completed in three years and will cost a total of 642 million Tunisian Dinar, said Al Zaar.
Cedar aims to be a centre for sports and sports-related areas. This will include sports academies and institutions that train players in all fields as well as stadiums and facilities that cater to all games – all of which is to be ready by 2015, according to Tunisian media reports.
A football stadium that will accommodate 10,000 spectators and a state-of the art Olympic swimming pool will also be under construction.
A partnership with international institutions will signed to manage these facilities which will include the French Olympique de Marseille Club, American Swimming Coaches Association, International Hockey Federation, and the Professional Golf Association.
Cedar project will also include a group of high rise towers, banks and business centres, shopping malls.
